String Of Pearls - Senecio Rowleyanus

String Of Pearls is a stunning plant with hardy pea-like petals growing along its thin vine. These plants can get 12+ inches long! They are potted plant stunners.

  • Sun/Light Requirements
This fragile succulent will do best in bright indirect sunlight inside near the windows or outside in the shade. Immediately placing your plants in bright hot sun will kill them. This goes for all plants.

    Water Requirements
They will rot easily if overwatered. If the petals start to look wrinkled it will need to be watered. Do not water if the soil is wet or moist, only when completely dry. Most succulents will need water within 2 weeks of them being watered. Try not to leave your succulents soil dry for over a week. You can water your plants more often if you have loose rocky soil that drains easily. Drought tolerant plants are just tolerant of no water, they will do better when watered accordingly.

    Soil Requirements
When purchasing a plant always consider they will be happier if you mimic their natural habitat. Please plant your succulent in rocky loose soil that drains easily. Most of your big box store brand soils are not rocky enough and will require you adding pumice or lava rock to help separate the soil. The rockier the soil, the more often you can water your succulent which helps them grow big.

    Growth Over Time
This plant is a long hanging plant with circular pea like petals growing along its vine. The new growth will form at the end of the vine. These plants can reach 12+ inches if cared for correctly.

    In Bloom
They form a small white fluffy flower encased in a bright green pod that opens and pushes out multiple individual pollen sacs.

    Toxic to Animals?
This plant is toxic. "If ingested, it can cause stomach upset–predominately vomiting–and lethargy. The nice thing about this plant is it works well as a hanging plant, making it easier to keep out of reach of our furry friends." This information is according to the ASPCA article called "Are Succulents Safe To Have Around Pets?" at https://www.aspca.org/news/are-succulents-safe-have-around-pets. Please always do your own research on this topic.
